Djokovic wins Roland Garros to claim record 23rd Grand Slam title

PARIS - Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has won his third Roland Garros title and his 23rd career Grand Slam trophy after beating Norwegian Casper Ruud (7-6 (7-1), 6-3, 7-5) in the final on Sunday.

Djokovic, who won after three hours and 16 minutes of play, is also back in the number one position in the ATP rankings.

The Serbian has overtaken Rafael Nadal in the number of Grand Slam titles won - the Spaniard, who was unable to defend his Roland Garros title due to injury, has a total of 22 Grand Slams.

Djokovic has also become the first in men's tennis to win every Grand Slam at least three times.
