Austria Extradites Bosnian to Face Trial for Killing Serbs

The Bosnian state prosecution announced on Monday that Nenad Cehic, a wartime member of the military police squad of the Bosnian Army's 511st Glorious Mountain Brigade, has been extradited from Austria to face trial for war crimes.

Cehic is accused, alongside seven other members of the 511st Glorious Mountain Brigade's military police squad, of involvement in the killing of at least 25 Bosnian Serb Army soldiers who were taken captives in the Bosanska Krupa area in 1995.

The indictment alleges that, following the capture of the Bosnian Serb Army soldiers in the municipality of Bosanska Krupa, four were killed on the spot, while the others were taken away, tortured and abused.

Some of the captives were shot dead while others were beaten to death.

Most of the bodies of the killed captives were found in 1995 and 1996, while one victim's body was only discovered in 2004, the prosecution said.

Besides Cehic, the other accused in the case are Senad Buzimkic, Rizah Fajic, Almir Sefic, Ermin Kadic, Amir Patkovic, Irfo Velagic and Suad Nesimovic. They went on trial in May this year.
