Vucic: Proposal made to raise reward for Olympic gold to 200,000 euros

BELGRADE - After a meeting with representatives of the Olympic Committee of Serbia (OCS), Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said a proposal had been made to the government to raise the reward for gold medals at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris to 200,000 euros.

"We also discussed the reward fund and additional investments in sport, which are greatly contributing to good results. We proposed to the Government of Serbia to raise the amount for gold medals won to 200,000 euros per medal," Vucic wrote in a post on his buducnostsrbijeav Instagram profile.

He added that he had discussed with the OCS representatives the upcoming Olympic Games and support to athletes preparing for the "greatest and the most prestigious sports competition."

"I am hoping for the biggest medal harvest in the history of Serbia, which means at least ten medals," Vucic noted.
