Djokovic defeats Prizmic in Australian Open first round

MELBOURNE - Serbia's Novak Djokovic, the world number one in men's tennis singles, is through to the second round of the Australian Open after defeating Croatian Dino Prizmic 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4 in Melbourne on Sunday.

Reigning champion Djokovic won after four hours and one minute of play and will next face Australian Alexei Popyrin.

Djokovic, who won the Australian Open last season after defeating Greek Stephanos Tsitsipas in the final, will make an attempt to claim his 11th title in Melbourne and his 25th career Grand Slam trophy.
