How many Canadair aircraft fly daily in Greece?

Greece’s fleet includes various types of aircraft, including Canadair and newer Air Tractor models.

Specifically, Greece has a total of 32 aircraft, out of which 10 are Canadair CL-215 and CL-415.

Canadair aircraft are known for their capability to carry up to 5 tons of water or fire retardant and are widely used due to their effectiveness in firefighting.

Apart from Canadair, Greece also uses 19 PZL-Mielec M-18 Dromader aircraft, which are older and have lower transport capacity.

Greece has also leased and uses 17 fixed-wing aircraft and 32 helicopters to bolster firefighting operations.

Among the helicopters, Sikorsky/Erickson S-64 Skycrane helicopters are particularly flexible and effective, as they can be refilled from various water sources without needing to land.

Daily operations involve approximately 10-15 aircraft and helicopters depending on the needs and conditions of the wildfires, with this number adjusted according to the intensity and spread of the fires.
