Artificial Intelligence (AI): Summer School at Democritus by Leading Scientists

The event, held at Democritus, primarily targets students from Greek universities. Distinguished AI scientists from both the Greek diaspora and Greece, representing universities, research centers, and companies, will serve as speakers and instructors. The Summer School aims to review the foundations of Artificial Intelligence and highlight recent developments, including fundamental models, Generative AI, and Large Language Models.

According to HIAS’ announcement, “Today, there is almost no scientific field or part of our society that has not been touched by Artificial Intelligence. From self-driving cars and drone-assisted agriculture to handling legal cases and better medical diagnoses, AI is opening new horizons for humanity. There is a global race to lead the AI revolution, and the countries, companies, and universities that excel in computers, data, and minds will be able to win a much bigger game. The gain will be for those who recognize the core competencies required for excellence and the critical challenges that arise as byproducts of those competencies.”

The Summer School is supported by NTUA, with former NTUA Rector Andreas Boutouvis, a member of the HIAS Board of Directors, playing a significant role. Boutouvis informed us that the first day of the School saw impressive participation, with about 400 attendees, most of whom were students from various universities and different scientific fields.
