Shooting outside Panathinaikos stadium: Three injured, 70 arrested

A violent confrontation occurred on Tsocha Street, just outside the stadium on Alexandras Avenue, resulting in a shooting that left three people injured and led to 70 arrests.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon (July 13) shortly before a friendly match between Panathinaikos and AEK Larnaca. According to initial police reports, the clash between organized fans escalated when one individual pulled out a gun and fired, injuring a man in the leg.

During the altercation, two others sustained injuries: one was hit in the abdomen and suffered abrasions, while another was struck in the arm. All three injured individuals were transported to the People’s Hospital for treatment.

National Police quickly responded to the scene, detaining over 70 individuals. Many of those arrested have prior records for stadium-related incidents and other offenses. Reliable sources indicate that the police continuously monitor organized fan groups, some of which are suspected of operating like criminal organizations.
