Olympics: Dountounaki and Damassioti Miss 100m Butterfly Semifinals
With the preliminary heats of the women’s 100m butterfly, the swimming events of the Paris 2024 Olympics kicked off at the “Paris La Défense Arena.”
Two Greek athletes competed in this event but did not manage to qualify for the evening semifinals. Anna Dountounaki finished 7th in the 3rd heat with a time of 58.14, placing 19th overall, while Georgia Damassioti was 7th in the 2nd heat with a time of 58.72, ending up 23rd overall.
The best performance in the preliminaries was recorded by China’s Yufei Zhang with a time of 56.50, followed by Japan’s Mizuki Hirai (56.71) and American swimmers Tori Huske (56.72) and Gretchen Walsh (56.75).
