Mitsotakis: We Remain Focused on Controlling Prices

“We remain focused on controlling prices,” said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his scheduled meeting with the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

“The indications that there was a decline in prices at supermarkets in June are encouraging. I believe the overall mix of measures is starting to yield results,” he noted.

“We continue with price controls throughout the supply chain and by strengthening the competition commission,” added the Prime Minister.

As he stated, the government is ready to intervene in the electricity market whenever distortions are observed.

Referring to the requisitioning of private doctors into the NHS, he mentioned that “in cooperation with local medical associations, there was a voluntary offer of doctors to cover shifts in various parts of the country.”

The Prime Minister estimated that the provision being voted on in Parliament would not need to be activated. “This is a temporary measure, a new set of incentives will be legislated to attract permanent medical staff,” he added.

At the beginning of their dialogue, Mr. Mitsotakis referred to the new flare-up in the Middle East. As Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, “I want to express my deep sorrow for the death of innocent children in the Golan Heights, there is a need for an immediate ceasefire.”
