Two injured after turbulence on a flight from Corfu to London
Flight of EasyJet from Kerkyra bound for London Gatwick on Monday 19 August was forced to divert to Rome when turbulence over Italian airspace caused two crew members to be injured.
Another plane was sent to pick up the passengers, who eventually arrived in the UK the same day.
According to CNN, an EasyJet spokesman said: “The aircraft was not damaged. Flight EZY8120 from Corfu to London on August 19 experienced turbulence which unfortunately resulted in two cabin crew members being injured. As a result, the captain decided to divert to Rome, where the crew members received medical attention. The safety and welfare of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority and our pilots are trained to manage turbulence incidents. The flight landed as normal in Rome, where customers were supported at the terminal and arrangements were made for the crew and aircraft to be replaced to continue the flight to Gatwick, London.”
The spokesman declined to say whether the injured crew members were able to return to Gatwick with the passengers.
