Palermo: Who are the six dead in the shipwreck – One person still missing, one body not yet recovered from the boat

The Six Dead:

A total of five bodies were found on Wednesday during the searches conducted by Sicilian authorities at the wreck site of the Bayesian off the coast of Palermo, bringing the confirmed death toll to six.

On Thursday, the search efforts will continue with the goal of both recovering the body that has been located but not yet retrieved from the boat, and finding the last missing person.

As reported by British media since noon, the bodies of billionaire Mike Lynch and his daughter, Hannah, are among those found and identified today.

However, given that under Italian law, identification can only be officially confirmed by relatives, the information remains unclear. According to the Italian newspaper Corriere, the bodies recovered belong to Jonathan Bloomer, president of Morgan Stanley International, his wife Judith, lawyer Chris Morvillo, and his wife Neda. Meanwhile, the same newspaper reports that “British tycoon Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, are still missing.”

Who Are the Victims:

The Italian Corriere attempts to list the names and profiles of the victims confirmed to have perished in the shipwreck.

Recaldo Thomas, the Cook:

He was the first confirmed victim of the shipwreck. The Canadian chef lived in Antigua and was the ship’s cook.

Michael Richard Lynch:

Known as Mike, 59 years old, a British tech billionaire often dubbed “the British Bill Gates.” The yacht belonged to him (although it is registered under one of his companies), and the idea for the Mediterranean voyage with his family and some colleagues to celebrate his acquittal in a corruption case was also his.

Hannah Lynch:

The 18-year-old daughter of Mike Lynch and Angela Bacares (who was also on the yacht but survived).

Jonathan Bloomer:

70 years old, president of Morgan Stanley International.

Chris Morvillo:

Mike Lynch’s lawyer in the United States and a partner at Clifford Chance in New York. He defended the billionaire in a lawsuit filed in the United States against the American group Hewlett-Packard, which bought his software company, Autonomy, in 2011 for $11 billion. HP had accused Autonomy of falsifying its accounts, specifically accusing Lynch of artificially inflating revenues, sales growth, and profit margins.

Neda Morvillo:

A jewelry designer and wife of Lynch’s lawyer. Known as Neda Nassiri, she designed and crafted jewelry in New York.

Judy Bloomer (possibly missing):

Lastly, Judy Bloomer is the one believed to be missing.

Search Operations to Continue Tomorrow:

The operation will continue tomorrow, as stated by the head of Sicily’s civil protection service to the PA news agency. Salvatore Cocina confirmed that five bodies have been found, but only four have been retrieved from the boat, which remains on the seabed at a depth of 50 meters. Therefore, one person is still missing, Cocina added.
