Seven people lost their lives when the £30 million superyacht Bayesian, owned by tech tycoon Mike Lynch, sank off the coast of Palermo during a severe storm last month.

Divers of the Vigili del Fuoco, the Italian Corps. of Firefighters arrive in Porticello harbor near Palermo, with a third body at the back of the boat on Aug. 21, 2024, two days after the British-flagged luxury yacht Bayesian sank.

This morning, the fifth body of the missing persons was recovered from the interior of the ill-fated Bayesian, which sank just outside the port of Porticello, Palermo.

The Six Dead:

A total of five bodies were found on Wednesday during the searches conducted by Sicilian authorities at the wreck site of the Bayesian off the coast of Palermo, bringing the confirmed death toll to six.

Developments in the Shipwreck Case off Palermo:

According to Reuters, two bodies were discovered by Italian coast guard authorities within the ship that had sunk and was lying 50 meters deep on the sea floor. The bodies have not yet been identified, and it remains to be determined which of the missing persons they belong to.

The search continues at an unrelenting pace for the third day at the site where the luxury yacht Bayesian sank off the coast of Palermo, resulting in the death of one passenger.

A total of 22 people were on board the British-flagged sailing yacht Bayesian, 56 meters in length, when it was struck by a fierce storm just outside the Porticello harbor and sank. Of the passengers, 15 have been rescued, and one crew member was found dead.
