Concert venue under fire

The mayor of Kallithea and representatives of local residents in southern Athens have appealed to the prosecutor of the Athens Court of First Instance, requesting the adoption of measures "to restore legality and stop disturbing the common peace of citizens" at Plateia Nerou (Water Square), which serves as a regular venue for concerts. 

The appeal was lodged ahead of planned events at the square on September 7, 8 and 9. The municipality also sent a letter of complaint to the Hellenic Public Properties Co, saying it went back on its pledge that the concerts to be held this year in the square would not exceed 10. However, additional louder and longer events were announced in flagrant violation of legality.
