Weather: Noticeable drop in temperature up to 8 degrees Celsius on Monday

The weather is expected to change over the next few days, as a “Balkan front” passing through the country is expected to drop the temperature by up to 8 degrees Celsius, while northerly winds are expected to strengthen.

According to the director of the National Weather Service, Thodoros Kolydas the drop in temperature from 32°C to 33°C on Saturday to 24°C to 26°C on Monday will be felt across Greece. Strong northwest winds in the Ionian and Aegean Sea of 7 to 8 Beaufort between Sunday and Monday will be a feature of the weather.

Clear weather across the country. Visibility in the morning and evening hours will be locally limited and fog will form, mainly in the west. Winds will be variable 2 to 4 Beaufort and only in the eastern and southern Aegean Sea will blow north-northwest 4 to 5 Beaufort.

The temperature will remain high for the season and will reach 29 to 31 degrees Celsius and in some places, mainly in the eastern mainland, 31 to 32 degrees Celsius.

Saturday (28/9)

Visibility will be locally limited in the morning and evening hours and mainly in the west and north, fog will form in places. Winds in the west, central and north will be variable 2 to 4 and in the rest of the country will blow from westerly directions 4 to 5 Beaufort.

The temperature will remain high for the season and will reach 29 to 31 degrees Celsius and in some places on the eastern continent 32 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Sunday (29/9)

Initially almost clear weather throughout the country. From midday in the northwest and gradually in the rest of the western, central and northern mainland, the northeastern Aegean, the Sporades and Evia, clouds will develop and showers will occur, while sporadic thunderstorms will occur mainly in Macedonia, Thrace and the northeastern Aegean. In the evening the phenomena in the northeast will intensify while in the west the weather will improve.

In the west, the weather will improve in the north and in the south, while in the south the weather will improve in the southwest.

Winds will initially blow variable 3 to 4 and locally in the west and the south west northwest 4 to 6 Beaufort. From noon in the west and gradually in the rest of the country northwest winds of 5 to 7 and locally 8 Beaufort will prevail.

The temperature in the Ionian Sea and the northwestern mainland will not exceed 24 to 26 degrees. In the rest of the country it will reach 28 to 30 degrees and in some places in the eastern mainland 31 to 33 degrees, but from the afternoon in the northern parts of the country it will drop significantly.

From the afternoon to the evening it will decrease from the south to the south-east and then from the south to the southwest.
