Mitsotakis at Rigillis: “Let’s Give New Democracy Three Consecutive Terms in Government” (update)

“Today is dedicated to all New Democrats – we honor both those present and those absent. The gift New Democracy asks of us on its birthday is to build the future even faster.”

New Democracy returns to its historic headquarters on Rigillis Street to mark 50 years of existence.

Shortly, the party leader and Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, will deliver a speech in front of the neoclassical building that hosted the New Democracy offices for decades.

Speaking from the stage, Mitsotakis remarked, “We could only celebrate New Democracy’s anniversary here, at Rigillis 18, the place Kostas Karamanlis chose, which is intertwined with Greece’s history.”

Mitsotakis emphasized that this building witnessed the key moments of the party’s history and noted that New Democracy has proven to be the most resilient party of the post-dictatorship period, always on the right side of history and standing against the division of the nation.

“This party comes from afar and will go far, always leading our country forward,” he said, referencing the party’s founders and leaders such as Konstantinos Karamanlis, Georgios Rallis, Evangelos Averoff, Konstantinos Mitsotakis, Kostas Karamanlis, and Antonis Samaras. “Today, we honor all of them, both present and absent.”

Mitsotakis also called on the party’s supporters to respond to what the party has given them by delivering three consecutive terms in government. He reflected on Konstantinos Karamanlis’ principles, saying that it was he who set New Democracy on the path of continuous progress.

“At 50 years, our dominance is unquestionable. The opposition’s crisis is directly linked to our realistic policies. We have broken away from outdated ideologies and doctrines that sustained our opponents for years,” Mitsotakis added.

“Greece is changing and moving forward, and it will continue to do so. The gift New Democracy asks of us on its birthday is to build the future faster. I entered this building as a member of ONNED, and today I stand before it as Prime Minister. I haven’t forgotten that I’m Prime Minister because I’m the leader of New Democracy.”

“The true home of our party is in the hearts of all New Democrats. Our 50th anniversary calls for a new united effort filled with hope. We have a clear three-year political horizon ahead of us to fulfill our vision. We celebrate from Rigillis and move forward together. The best is yet to come.”

50 Years on the Right Side of History
