Androulakis and Doukas react to PASOK leadership election results

Incumbent PASOK president Nikos Androulakis and the Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas reacted to the results of the socialist party's leadership election late Sunday, which concluded with them set to face off in a runoff vote next Sunday.

In his remarks, Androulakis conveyed his confidence that the party would emerge more united and stronger as a result of the two-round contest.

"Today is a great day for the democratic movement," Androulakis said. "I want to thank the hundreds of thousands of citizens who honored us with their participation, filling us with hope and strength. I want to thank my fellow candidates for running a campaign characterized by genuine political civility, integrity, and seriousness.
