Israel – Times of Israel: Decision made on response to Iran – Military installations in focus
Israel appears to be getting closer to delivering a “response” to Iran following the attack it suffered last week.
In a long security meeting held last night at the military headquarters “Kirya” in Tel Aviv, Benjamin Netanyahu and top ministers, security officials, and military personnel reached significant decisions regarding the upcoming response, an Israeli official told the Times of Israel.
For now, the focus is on Iranian military installations, although this could change.
It is worth noting that Iran launched around 200 ballistic missiles last week, and Israel is determined to respond forcefully.
Officials told the public broadcaster Kan that there was a “decisive discussion on the Iranian issue” during the meeting.
The next step is a phone call between Joe Biden and Netanyahu later today, where the Israeli Prime Minister is expected to inform the U.S. President of his decisions.
Iran warns Gulf states against allowing use of airspace for attacks
The Middle East is on alert, awaiting Israel’s response to the Iranian missile strike, which Tehran launched last week in retaliation for Israel’s military escalation in Lebanon. The only fatality from the Iranian attack was a Palestinian who was hit by shrapnel in the West Bank.
Biden has advised Israel to consider alternative targets rather than striking Iranian oil or nuclear facilities, as an attack on oil infrastructure could spike global prices.
Iran’s foreign minister is currently visiting Gulf states. Tehran has warned them that it would be unacceptable for their airspace or military bases to be used for attacks against Iran, according to a senior Iranian official.
