Disaster response system upgrade

The Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Ministry has signed a €10 million contract to upgrade the ENGAGE information system, part of the AIGIS program to enhance real-time monitoring of natural disasters and improve communication between firefighting and civil protection forces. 

The new system will offer real-time updates on meteorological conditions, vehicle and aerial unit tracking, and provide access to critical historical data from past disasters. The public will also benefit through a mobile app, providing live updates on fire incidents.

The upgrade has 40 new features, including VR training systems, surveillance cameras, and the procurement of 500 computers and 1,000 monitors to boost operational efficiency.
