Gender wars in America and beyond
A closer look at the breakdown of the vote in the United States reveals a recurring trend in many elections across the Western world: In the 18-29 age group, only 49% of men voted Democrat while the corresponding rate among women was 63%. Why is there such a significant divide in voting preferences between young men and women in the US? What is it that compelled young men to vote conservatively and misogynistically in favor of Donald Trump and so many more women liberally and inclusively in favor of Kamala Harris? The former president did not refrain from attacks on women even in the final stretch of his campaign. In his last rally, in Michigan, he trained his ire on Nancy Pelosi, calling the former House speaker "an evil, sick, crazy bitch" while addressing a frenzied crowd.
