Power market intervention set for early next month

Minister of Environment and Energy Thodoros Skylakakis stressed on Friday that in early December the government will announce the interventions to minimize the impact on consumers from the crisis in the electricity market in Southeastern Europe.

Skylakakis made the statement after a meeting with representatives of the European Commission on the type of interventions to be implemented.

Skylakakis underlined that at the beginning of December the price data (wholesale and especially consumer prices) will be known in order for the government to make decisions on the scope of intervention. He also added that from the Commission's point of view, more fiscal tools and fewer regulatory ones are preferred.
