Pharos Alliance to boost Greek language in Australia

A new not-for-profit organisation, called The Pharos Alliance, aiming to promote and revitalize the Greek language in Australia was registered with the authorities, local outlet Neos Kosmos reported on Monday.

Professor Emeritus Joseph Lo Bianco AM was elected President of the Alliance.

"It's an honour to be elected President of the Pharos Alliance," Professor Lo Bianco was quoted as saying in Neos Kosmos, noting the importance of continued efforts to ensure the longevity and vitality of the Greek language.

He will be joined by Vice President Yiota Stavridou, Secretary Denise Diakodimitriou, Treasurer Vasso Zangalis, and their respective assistants, Dr Stephie Nikoloudis and Eva O'Hehir, the report said.

The Alliance will hold its first symposium on December 1, at La Trobe University, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
