Police manhunt for suspect in domestic violence case

Police officers raided an apartment in Ilioupoli where a man had barricaded himself and was threatening to commit suicide on Monday, but they did not find him.

The suspect seems to have managed to escape in time. However, the officers did discover a hunting rifle inside the apartment.

The 59-year-old man has a license for the shotgun. His wife, who has two daughters, is currently giving a statement at the Ilioupoli police station. 

The 57-year-old woman contacted the authorities herself after managing to leave the house, stating that he had threatened her and mentioning the presence of a weapon inside the home.

Authorities were alerted to a domestic violence incident in the Athens suburb of Ilioupoli around 4 p.m. on Monday, with reports indicating that a man was threatening to take his own life inside his home.
