Turkey: 4 dead in a landslide in the town of Artvin

Four bodies were recovered from a car buried under a landslide in the Arhavi area near the city of Artvin in northeastern Turkey on the morning of December 9.

According to Hurriyet Daily News, the landslide occurred the previous day, causing large amounts of soil and rocks to detach from a hillside, blocking the highway in both directions.

Rescue teams worked tirelessly for two days to locate the vehicle, which had been missing since the onset of the disaster.

Aerial scans using drones ultimately led to the discovery of the car. Heavy machinery was then employed to remove the debris and recover the vehicle.

The victims were identified as the driver of the vehicle and three passengers traveling from the nearby city of Giresun to Batumi, Georgia, when the disaster struck.
