The government’s plan to address Internet addiction among minors will be implemented in three stages, as decided during a meeting at the Maximos Mansion chaired by Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The meeting included, among others, the Minister of Digital Governance, Dimitris Papastergiou, and the Minister of Family and Social Cohesion, Sofia Zacharaki.
According to reports, the plan includes the following:
- The immediate activation of a platform explaining how parental control features can be applied using existing technology.
- In three months, the Kids Wallet is expected to be ready. It will include built-in applications and rules, while it remains open whether this app can come pre-installed on electronic devices.
- Legislative initiatives will be undertaken in Greece and Europe regarding content, in collaboration with technology and network companies.
Finally, it was decided during the meeting that a press conference will be held on December 30, during which the national plan to combat social media addiction will be presented.
