October posts major rise in accommodation turnover

Turnover for Greece's accommodation businesses jumped 17.7% in October compared to last year, while turnover in the food service sector was only 5.1% higher year on year, figures released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority Tuesday showed.

According to ELSTAT, for large and medium-sized businesses in the accommodation sector, turnover in October amounted to 908,300,237 euros, recording an increase of 17.7% compared to October 2023, when it had come to €771,809,950.

For businesses in the food service sector, with an obligation to keep double-entry books, for which data is available on a monthly basis, turnover in October amounted to €238,316,228, posting an increase of 5.1% compared to October, when it had amounted to €226,686,750.
