Startups woo US investors

Last year almost 40% of investors who invested in Greek startups had a US passport, "a percentage that just a few years ago was in single-digit percentages, if not near zero," market executives report.

Cadence Design Systems and Intel are just two of the big American names that landed in Greece last year through the absorption of Greek entrepreneurs' technology companies, while other international names are also included in the list. This due to China's Alibaba as well as the NATO Innovation Fund, which, in turn, invested in the company iCOMAT, continuing, according to information, to scan Greek startups in sectors related to defense and security. iCOMAT, a venture by Evangelos Zympeloudis, is based in Bristol and has a branch in Greece too.
