Prosecutor orders inquiry into Thessaloniki metro breakdown

The Prosecutor's Office in Thessaloniki ordered on Tuesday a preliminary investigation into the breakdown of a metro train carriage on December 14 which forced passengers to evacuate by walking in the tunnels.

The investigation reportedly focuses on potential offenses, including dangerous interference with fixed-track transportation systems and endangerment.

Its objective is to determine the cause of the breakdown and whether the relevant safety protocols were properly followed during the evacuation of the passengers.
