Teacher arrested for sexual abuse of schoolgirl

Police in the Athens district of Ilioupoli have arrested a 52-year-old teacher on suspicion of the repeated sexual abuse of a 14-year-old schoolgirl.

It is understood that on Sunday afternoon, the parents of the girl called a police hotline to report that the teacher had been exchanging sexually explicit messages with their daughter and that they feared the two were in a relationship.

A subsequent investigation revealed that, since late October, the teacher had been communicating online, as well as in person at school, with the girl.

In some of the messages, the teacher is believed to have made suggestions to the girl on sexual acts they could perform together.

According to information, the teacher met with the girl on December 31 and sexually abused her.
