Police launch investigation into attempted abduction of young boy

Police have launched an investigation into the attempted abduction of a young boy in the Ano Glyfada area of southern Athens.

According to the boy's report, a stranger called out his name as he exited a sports facility after training, claiming that his mother had been injured and that he was there to pick him up. The mother had been running late.

Frightened by the incident, the boy said he returned to the sports facility and immediately called his father before authorities at the ground were also informed. 

The child's parents reported the case to the police, providing a description of the man, who was said to have an athletic build, short hair, and blue eyes. He was reportedly wearing black clothing at the time of the incident.
