Paris gala showcases enduring influence of Greek heritage through historic costumes

The Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in France is set to host a philanthropic gala spotlighting Greek heritage through a unique fusion of historical and modern fashion.  

At the heart of the event is the Dora Stratou Theater's renowned collection of 2,500 traditional Greek costumes, some dating back 200 years, state broadcaster ERT reported. 

These intricate garments, reflecting Greece's diverse cultural history, have inspired final-year students from France's renowned LISAA Mode Art & Design school to create modern outfits. 

Both will be put on display in a two-part fashion showcase featuring 20 original costumes from the Dora Stratou collection, followed by contemporary designs inspired by them.
