Man arrested for impersonating actor, defrauding citizens

A 23-year-old resident of Sabac, whose initials are F.J., has been arrested for impersonating actor Sergej Trifunovic.

He also defrauded citizens in this way, starting in February 2016.

UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova could possibly win the race to become the next United Nations Secretary General, British futurist Felix Dodds has argued.

Bokova will be "the only Eastern Europe woman in the fourth straw poll," in his words.

On his blog, he has posted an analysis of the ongoing straw polls at the United Nations Security Council and their results.

Montenegro Minister Accuses Police of 'Coup Attempt'

Montenegro's Interior Minister, Goran Danilovic, on Tuesday accused the Police Administration of a coup attempt after police clashed with former employees of the aluminum smelter KAP, who have been protesting for days in front of parliament.

Bulgaria's New Border Police Chief Takes Over after Public Tender Scanal

Svetlan Kichikov, the current head of the the border police ships, has been reappointed to take over the border police directorate of Bulgaria, Interior Ministry officials have said.

Kichikov, 49, has been working for the ministry since September 1992. He has spent his entire career at positions relating to maritime border security.

FDI into Bulgaria Goes Up in 2015

The volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria in 2015 was 7.2% higher compared to the figure for the previous year, national statistics show.

Throughout 2015, FDI stood at EUR 23.127 B, of which some 66.8% was in the sectors of industry and services, according to preliminary data published by the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

CHP, TBB not to appear at Turkey's judicial year opening amid impartiality row

Turkey's main opposition party and the Union of Bar Associations (TBB) will not participate in this year's ceremony for the opening of the judicial year on Sept. 1, complaining that it will undermine the separation of powers as it will be held at the presidential palace in Ankara.
