Bulgaria celebrates on Sunday ten years since it joined the European Union.

The southeastern European nation became part of the bloc on January 01, 2007, alongside Romania.

Fire caused the sinking of the Titanic, new evidence suggests

The sinking of the RMS Titanic could have been caused by a large fire on board and not by crashing into an iceberg in the North Atlantic, according to experts, as new evidence came to light backing the theory. Over than 1,500 passengers lost their lives when the Titanic sank on route to New York from Southampton in April 1912.

Technical infrastructure for early warning system on food prices in Turkey to be completed soon

The Food and Agricultural Product Markets Monitoring and Evaluation Committee has decided that studies on the establishment of the Early Warning System would be conducted under the coordination of the Central Bank and Food, Agriculture and Livestock Ministry and said that its technical infrastructure would be completed as soon as possible. 

Greek President expresses condolences to Turkish people over Istanbul night club attack

The President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos expressed his warmest condolences to the families of the 39 victims of the new year’s eve attack in an Istanbul night club in a statement released. In his message Mr. Pavlopoulos extended the solidarity of the Greek people to Turkey.

Athens and Thessaloniki usher in new year in style (photos)

The two major cities of Greece, Athens and Thessaloniki ushered in the new year with celebrations, fireworks and festive happenings. The Acropolis was lit up to bid farewell to 2016 and welcome the new year, while hundreds gathered at Aristotelous square in the largest city of Macedonia to take part in the city’s events.

India mine collapse toll rises to at least 16

The death toll from a mine collapse in eastern India's Jharkhand state rose to 16 yesterday as rescue workers continued to search for the bodies of seven missing miners.

A massive mound of earth caved in late Thursday at Lalmatia open cast mine, around 390 kilometers from the state capital Ranchi.

23 dead in Indonesia tourist boat fire

Twenty-three people have been killed and dozens injured after a fire ripped through a boat carrying nearly 250 people to islands north of the Indonesian capital Jakarta, the city’s search and rescue agency says.
