Taxi driver who kicked pregnant woman out of cab given house arrest

A taxi driver who kicked a pregnant woman in labor out of his cab in the Marmara province of Kocaeli's Çayırova district has been sentenced to house arrest.

The driver, identified only by the initials M.B., took Aisha Hashem, a Syrian woman whose water had just broken, into his cab but later kicked her out after she showed signs of labor.

March retail sales drop 3.1 pct y/y

Greek retail sales by volume dropped 3.1 percent in March compared to the same month a year ago after a downwardly revised 2.5 percent increase in February, statistics service ELSTAT said on Friday.
Retail sales were led lower by books and stationary, fuels, lubricants and tobacco and food products, the data showed.

GCS: 191 new cases of COVID-19; total number of persons infected - 18,982

A number of 191 new cases of people infected with the novel coronavirus have been recorded in Romania since the previous information, bringing the total case count to 18,982, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday. Of the people confirmed positive, 12,829 have been declared cured and discharged. As many as 182 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care.
