Education Ministry bill submitted to Parliament

The Education Ministry bill aiming to overhaul public education, with more school hours for foreign languages and information technology and English lessons in kindergarten was submitted to Parliament late on Thursday, bringing about changes at all levels of education.

Large families facilitate virus spread in Turkish city Van: Governor

Large families, customs and traditions facilitate the spread of the coronavirus in the eastern province of Van, according to Governor Emin Bilmez.

There have been at least 480 confirmed cases, while 18,000 people are presently under quarantine in the province which has a population of around 1.1 million.

A total of 66,000 residents of Van had undergone quarantine so far.

Countries around the world have used quarantine measures to prevent infected travellers spreading coronavirus within their borders.

With infection rates now falling in countries which have suffered thousands of deaths from Covid-19 many of those travel restrictions are set to be lifted, just as Britain is planning to impose its own 14-day quarantine on overseas visitors.

3.8-magnitude quake shakes Imathia

A light earthquake was recorded on Friday morning east of the northern Greek town of Naousa, in Imathia, according to a reading of the Seismological Station of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The epicentre of the 3.8-magnitude tremor recorded at 9.33 a.m. was eight kilometres east of the town of Naousa.

Romania's COVID-19 death toll rises by 2 to 1,240

Two more people infected with the novel coronavirus have died in Romania, bringing the total death toll to 1,240, the Strategic Communication Group (GCS) reported on Friday. Only 8 Newly Infected with COVID-19 in Bulgaria on May 29

Only 8 new cases of coronavirus were proven for the day, 3 of them were admitted to hospital.

They were found in the districts of Sofia (5 cases), Vidin (1 case), Pazardzhik (2 cases).

The most infected so far are in Sofia - 1043 people. The tests performed were 1725. The total number of infected is 2485.

Kosovo Court Says Govt Can be Formed Without Elections

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo on Thursday ruled that President Hashim Thaci did not make an unconstitutional decision when he gave a mandate to a new prime minister to form a new administration without holding fresh elections.

He took this action after the outgoing ruling party, Vetevendosje, did not nominate anyone for the role.

Migration Ministry says has ‘no knowledge’ of critical report, refutes cost of camp

Greece's Migration Ministry said on Friday it had "no knowledge" of a report by an international organization castigating its policy on and handling of migration, responding to a news story published in Kathimerini.

It said the same applied to the UΝ refugee agency (UNHCR), and the International Organisation for migration (IOM).

Bulgaria Lifts 14-Day Quarantine, It Remains for 8 Countries Only

"We are removing the 14-day quarantine from 1st of June for the arriving Bulgarian and foreign citizens from the European Union, including Serbia and Northern Macedonia.

However, for the eight countries in Europe with the highest number of COVID-19 patients, the imposition of a 14-day quarantine will remain, explained Assoc. Prof. Angel Kunchev from the headquarters.
