Greek unemployment rises to 11.4% in February

Greece's jobless rate stood at 11.4% in February, up from a downwardly revised 10.3% in January, data from statistics service ELSTAT showed on Friday.

Seasonally adjusted data showed 526,742 people were officially unemployed, with those under the age of 24 the hardest hit.

Unemployment was more widely spread among women than men, with the rates at 15.8% and 7.8%, respectively.

PM says will not compromise on national security issues, challenges leftist opposition

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis pledged that a new conservative government will not compromise on matters of national security, while challenging the leader of Greece's leftist opposition, Alexis Tsipras, to clearly state whether he would continue the construction of the fence along the Greek-Turkish border or dismantle it if elected.

POS link with cash registers

The Finance Ministry and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) on Thursday announced the interconnection of cash registers and tax mechanisms with card readers (POS) from June 2023. In a period of six months after the elections, POS are expected to be installed everywhere - i.e. in every business.
