The race for the Istanbul provincial chair in the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) has emerged as a critical test for the party's leadership aspirations, with the city's current head, Canan Kaftancıoğlu, ineligible to run again due to a political ban.

Greece holding T-bill auction on Wednesday

The Public Debt Management Agency announced last week that it will auction 13-week treasury bills in book entry form to the amount of 625 million euros, this Wednesday. 

The issue will mature on November 3 and the settlement date will be this Friday.

Türkiye to modernize F16s into 'viper level' warplanes by 2030

The Turkish Air Force Command plans to modernize 165 F16 jets with block levels of 30, 40 and 50, gradually transforming them into powerful viper level warplanes by the year 2030, local media has reported.

The move comes as part of Türkiye's efforts to bolster its air combat capabilities in the face of potential weaknesses resulting from its exclusion from the F35 program.

Serbia’s Q2 real GDP up by 1.7 pct

BELGRADE - Serbia's real GDP was up by 1.7 pct y-o-y in Q2 2023, the Serbian national statistical office RZS said in a flash estimate released on Monday.

The RZS also said a more detailed GDP calculation for Q2 2023, performed at lower aggregation levels, would be published on August 31.
