Voters return to polls in three districts for election rerun

Voters in the country's three districts and four towns returned to the polls on June 2 for a rerun of the local elections originally held on March 31.

The decision for a rerun was made following objections and irregularities that affected the initial results.

TAV opens new airport terminal in Kazakhstan’s Almaty

TAV Airports, a member of Groupe ADP, has completed a $200 million investment in Kazakhstan's economic and cultural capital Almaty.

The first passengers arrived at the new terminal on June 1 from London, the company said in a statement, adding that the new terminal increases the airport's annual passenger capacity to more than 14 million.

Retail prices in Istanbul rise 3.6 percent in May

Retail prices in Istanbul increased by 3.59 percent month-on-month in May, slowing from 4.5 percent in April, data from the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) have shown.

The annual increase in retail prices in the country's largest city accelerated from 78.8 percent in April to 70.33 percent last month, while prices have risen 25.4 percent since the end of 2023.

Association seeks to expand tourism to all 81 provinces

The Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB) has launched its campaign with the aim of expanding tourism activities year-round to the country's 81 provinces.

"With the 'Century of Tourism' project, we set a goal of increasing our country's share of tourism even higher," said Firuz Bağlıkaya, the president of the association.

Türkiye, EU should work together for gas security: Minister

Türkiye and the European Union should work together on natural gas supply security, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said.

Bayraktar met with EU Ambassador to Türkiye Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut and ambassadors of EU member countries in Ankara to discuss Türkiye's national energy plan and energy transition as well as cooperation in the field of energy.

Local elections underway in Serbia

BELGRADE - Local elections are underway in Serbia on Sunday after polling stations opened at 7 am.

The elections are being held in Belgrade and 14 other cities, 51 municipalities and 23 urban municipalities.

The polling stations will close at 8 pm, at which time election silence will end as well.
