Cruise industry warns of potential impact of fee

The cruise industry has voiced its opposition to the fee the government said it will impose as of 2025 on cruise ports of call, reaching up to 20 euros per person for Mykonos and Santorini.

Cyprus hits record high in August arrivals

Tourist arrivals in Cyprus reached an all-time high for August this year, with 554,923 visitors, surpassing the previous record set in August 2019 by 0.20%, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat) on Tuesday.

Compared to August last year, there was an 8.5% increase.

Eurobank signs MoU with Indian Chamber of Commerce

Eurobank and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday to work toward establishing the India-Greece-Cyprus (IGC) Business Council.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Indian Ambassador Shri Rudrendra Tandon at the Indian Embassy in Athens.

Central Bank standoff in Libya fuels fears of new conflict

Earlier this month a Turkish-flagged vessel suspected of carrying weapons to Libya blocked the EU's naval mission Irini from inspecting its cargo. This isn't the first time this has happened.

The timing of this shipment, however, which comes amid an escalating row over the leadership of the country's Central Bank, is fueling speculation of renewed conflict in Libya.

Acting How? | Athens | September 21

The theater group Acting How? launches the new season with an open presentation of its work and courses on Saturday at noon in Kerameikos. Since 2013, the group has built up a safe environment for creation, in which the unique free expression of each participant is explored with a focus on a variety of acting techniques. This year meetings will take place every Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.

Legislative ills

All Greek political parties theoretically agree on the best practices in the legislative process. All parties have recognized, since the restoration of democracy, the problem of last-minute amendments introduced without consultation to unrelated bills.

But it seems that those bad practices are impossible to eradicate.
