As cases soar, ‘dementia villages’ look like the future of home care
WEESP, Netherlands - On a recent morning in this quiet village outside Amsterdam, an older woman stocked shelves inside the local supermarket. In the plaza just outside the store, a group of men sat around a table, chatting the hours away. Over in the town square, a woman in a hijab sipped coffee outside the cafe.
Greeks abroad go to the polls
Over 25,600 Greeks living abroad go to the polls Saturday, the second time that the diaspora can participate in national elections in their place of residence.
The 25,610 Greeks who are registered in the special electoral rolls abroad will vote in 35 countries around the world, where polling stations have been set up in 85 cities.

High art becomes body art at Rembrandt House Museum

"Highbrow to lowbrow" is how the famous Dutch tattoo artist describes his latest project, inking sketches by Rembrandt van Rijn onto the skin of visitors to the building the Golden Age master once called home. Or call it high art to body art.
Rembrandt’s self-portrait ‘on display’
A Rembrandt self-portrait bought from the Rothschild family with 150 million euros ($162 million) of Dutch state cash went on display at Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum on June 15.
The Netherlands agreed to buy "The Standard-Bearer" with public money in 2022, after Paris cleared its sale despite the painting being considered as a "national treasure" in France.

Hit Vermeer show ends in Amsterdam
Amsterdam's famous Rijksmuseum drew the curtain on June 4 on its "most successful" exhibition featuring paintings of Dutch master Johannes Vermeer, saying hundreds of thousands of art lovers flocked to the capital for the blockbuster show.

Celine Dion cancels 2023-2024 shows
Pop icon Celine Dion on May 26 canceled all her remaining shows scheduled for 2023-2024, saying she was not strong enough to tour as she battles a rare neurological disorder.
The 55-year-old Canadian revealed last year that her condition -Stiff-Person Syndrome - was affecting her singing.

Dutch news agency ANP said Zelensky, making his first visit to the Netherlands, landed at Schiphol airport after attending a Nordic summit in Helsinki.
Istanbul Europe’s busiest airport in March
Türkiye's mega airport Istanbul was the busiest one in Europe, with an average of 1,263 daily flights in March, according to EUROCONTROL.
Sabiha Gökçen, also in Istanbul, ranked 17th on the list with an average of 549 daily flights.
Istanbul Airport was followed by Heathrow with 1,190 flights and Charles de Gaulle in Paris with 1,135 flights.

Rembrandt’s prints on show at National Gallery
Original prints by the celebrated Dutch painter Rembrandt have been put on display at the National Gallery in Ljubljana, alongside works by artists he inspired. Mounted in cooperation with the Rembrandt House Museum in Amsterdam, the exhibition runs until 30 July.
