More than 110 countries want the COP28 climate negotiations to adopt a goal of tripling renewable energy and doubling energy efficiency by 2030, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Friday.
Japan to stop building 'unabated' coal plants: PM
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has vowed to stop building new coal-fired power plants that lack measures to cut carbon emissions.
The announcement was made at the UN's COP 28 climate summit in Dubai, as Japan, heavily reliant on imported coal and other fossil fuels, aims to become carbon-neutral by 2050.

NATO chief hopeful for Sweden's inclusion in the alliance
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg says he has told President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan that "the time has come" to let Sweden become a member of the military alliance.

Poros to become third ‘green’ island, says Mitsotakis
Poros will become the third "green" island under the government's GR-eco Islands national initiative, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitostakis has announced at the COP28 conference in Dubai.
