Cold wave to grip country, heavy rains lash Istanbul
Heavy rain caused significant disruptions and paralyzed daily life in the metropolis of Istanbul on Oct. 12, with a cold wave expected to sweep the nation, particularly after Oct. 25, according to data from the U.K.-based meteorology platform WXCharts.
Puddles formed on the roads in several parts of Istanbul due to torrential rains, causing traffic congestion and multiple accidents.

A huge landslide hit a gold mine in eastern Turkey on Tuesday, trapping at least nine workers underground, officials said.
The landslide at the Copler mine happened at 2.30 p.m. near the town of Ilic in Turkey's mountainous Erzincan province. Footage seemingly shot by a nearby worker showed a massive wave of earth rushing down a gully, engulfing everything in its path.
Turkish Authorities Detain 99 Afghan Refugees in Erzincan Amid Increased Crackdown
Amidst a broader crackdown on Afghan refugees, Turkish police have detained 99 Afghan individuals in the city of Erzincan, according to reports from Khaama Press. The refugees were apprehended during a search operation on a truck along the Erzincan-Tercan highway. Additionally, three suspects were taken into custody on charges of "human trafficking" during the same operation.
THY to offer Turkish cuisine to passengers
Turkish Airlines (THY) has planned to include traditional Turkish cuisine in its new menus, with domestic producers to supply 80 percent of the products needed.
THY decided to renew all the catering menus the company offers the passengers on its flights.
Setting off with the goal of promoting Turkish cuisine, THY will include traditional Turkish delicacies and food items.
