Train hits fallen trees; no injuries reported
A train travelling from Halkida to Athens hit fallen trees between Sfendali and Afidna stations, causing material damage to it and bringing it to a halt.
Operator Hellenic Train said there were no injuries to passengers or staff.

Train services resume after collision with truck in Avlida
Train services have resumed on the Athens-Oinoi route after a truck collided with a train earlier on Tuesday near Avlida in southern Evia, causing minor injuries to three passengers.
The injured were transported to Halkida Hospital.
Truck crashes into train in Avlida; three injuries reported
A truck crashed into a passenger train near Avlida in southern Evia, Hellenic Train said Tuesday. Three minor injuries were reported.
According to the company, the truck veered off course on the peripheral road near Avlida and fell onto the train tracks, colliding with Train 1551 traveling from Halkida to Athens.
Shipyard worker dies in accident
A 40-year-old worker died Saturday afternoon at Chalkis Shipyards in the city of Halkida, north of Ahens, when hit by a part of a ship's shell door that broke off.
The accident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday. The man died instantly.
The Halkida Port Authority is investigating the accident.

Suburban railway inaugurating new services on Monday
The Proastiakos suburban railway will add four new services as of Monday on the section connecting Athens to Halkida on the southern coast of Evia, according to railway operator Trainose.
From Athens there will be additional services at 5.51 a.m. and 3.51 p.m., while two additional services will depart from Halkida to Athens at 7.26 a.m. and 5.26 p.m.

PM pays respects to Mytaras, Kounellis
Greek politicians on Friday paid their respects following the deaths on Thursday of two of Greece's most important 20th century painters: Dimitris Mytaras, aged 83, and Jannis Kounellis, aged 80.
Writing on Twitter on Friday, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras described Mytaras as "an important and great representative of the Greek visual arts."

Dimitris Mytaras, considered one of Greece's most important 20th century painters, died late Thursday. He was 83.
Born in Halkida, Mytaras drew inspiration from the human figure within a context of naturalism and expressionism.
