Google's earthquake warning system failed to get to many Turkish residents before February's deadly tremor, the leading British public service broadcaster BBC has reported.
Google says its alert system can give users up to a minute's notice on their phones before an earthquake hits.

Heavy rain to batter eastern cities, Istanbul
With rains and thunderstorms expected to batter the country in the days ahead, the Turkish State Meteorological Service has declared a "yellow and orange alert" for 16 out of all 81 provinces, mostly in the east, while heavy rains will continue to pound Istanbul and its neighboring cities.

Defense minister denies mass entry of irregular migrants
Defense Minister Hulusi Akar has denied allegations that irregular migrants are entering through the Turkish borders in massive numbers, stressing that political comments by the opposition that suggest an increase in the refugees are based on some footage taken in different countries and at different times.
Cultural mobilization starts for Hatay
Preparations are underway as Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry is preparing to establish a coordination center, where historical heritage preservation activities will be carried out. The ministry asked universities to send any information, document, research, thesis, picture, etc. about the quake-hit city of Hatay in an attempt to reconstruct the life and cultural texture there again.
