Tech zones exports reach $5.8 billion
The amount of total exports from Turkey's 87 Technology Development Zones has reached $5.8 billion in 21 years, according to data by the Industry and Technology Ministry.
More than 6,500 companies, including 322 firms with foreign capital, have been operating in these zones as of the end of April, data showed.

78-meter-long künefe dessert eaten in 20 minutes in Turkey's Hatay
A 78-meter-long künefe dessert was prepared on July 23 for an event held to commemorate the 78th year the southern border province of Hatay, the dessert's homeland, joined Turkey.
Some 1.5 tons of the heavy dessert was eaten in 20 minutes by participants.
12 meter-long white whale washes ashore in Hatay
A 12 meter-long white whale washed ashore in the southern Turkish province of Hatay on June 20, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.
Locals who live in Hatay's Karaağaç neighborhood noticed the dead whale due to its odor and informed the local authorities.

Turkey tops UNHCR's refugee hosting list with 2.9 million refugees
Turkey tops the list of refugee hosting countries in the world, hosting 2.9 million of the world's 65 million refugees, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stated on June 20.
Most of the refugees hosted by Turkey are from Syria and Iraq, with the UNHCR putting the number of Iraqi refugees in Turkey at around 30,000.
Municipality removes Arabic signs to 'remove visual pollution' in Turkey's south
A municipality in southern Turkey has decided to remove all signs written in Arabic in order to "remove visual pollution," according to its official Twitter account.
The municipality of Hatay province shared photos of officials removing Arabic signs from several shops on May 21.
