'Massive' Russian air attack kills at least four in Ukraine

Russia fired dozens of missiles and drones at Ukraine on Wednesday in a "massive" early morning attack that killed at least four and injured more than a dozen, officials in Kiev said.

Russian strikes on the capital Kiev killed three people, local authorities said, as images showed a large fire billowing in the top floors of a high-rise residential building.

Ukraine spy chief vows more attacks on Russian infrastructure

Ukraine's spy chief on Thursday said Kiev's forces were planning to step up their attacks on Russian infrastructure sites, following a spate of drone strikes on Russian energy facilities this year.

"The number of attacks on Russian infrastructure is likely to increase," Kyrylo Budanov, chief of Ukraine's GUR military intelligence unit, said in a social media post.

Drop in US aid to Ukraine would be 'bad signal': Zelensky

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday warned that a drop in aid from the United States to Kiev would send a poor message, as U.S. President Joe Biden faces a Republican blockade on further support.

With an eye on U.S. aid potentially diminishing, Zelensky urged Germany to use its economic weight to rally EU partners to give more to Kiev in its fight against Russia.

Uncertainty hangs over Russia's account of plane crash

Questions remained Thursday over the military plane crash that Russia said had killed dozens of captured Ukrainian soldiers ahead of a planned prisoner exchange, with Moscow and Kiev trading accusations at the U.N. Security Council.

Russia has blamed Ukrainian forces for downing the IL-76 transport plane over the southern Belgorod region on Wednesday.
