Bike path launched between Slovenia EU presidency hub and Kranj
Kranj – A month after the start of the Slovenian EU presidency, a cycle route was launched running between the northern town of Kranj and Brdo pri Kranju, the main venue for presidency-related events. To honour Slovenia’s second stint at the helm of the Council of the EU, Kranj will also plant trees along the lane in the autumn.

Graphic novel about Slovenia’s poet laureate released
Kranj – Ahead of Culture Day the Gorenjska Museum released a comic book about Slovenia’s most prominent poet, France Prešeren (1800-1849), authored by the museum’s consultant Magda Zore and painter Jože Trobec.
The comic, titled Comic Book about Prešeren, captures the life of the acclaimed poet who elevated the Slovenian poetry to the heights of established Romantic verse.

Bill redrawing electoral districts tabled
Ljubljana – Two coalition parties and the Pensioners’ Party (DeSUS) have tabled a bill that would redraw some electoral districts in line with a 2018 Constitutional Court decision, after a rival opposition-sponsored bill that would have abolished districts altogether failed to garner the required two-thirds majority in the National Assembly last week.

Ljubljana – The Kranj-based telecommunications system developer Eurotronik has been declared the exporter of the year at the conclusion of the International Trade Management (ITM) programme, a course for managers organised by the SPIRIT trade promotion agency.

Kranj – Electricity meter maker Iskraemeco has signed a contract with Iceland’s largest power distributor Veitur on an advanced smart metering project that will allow Veitur to transform electricity, heat and water networks into a sustainable smart network, the Kranj-based company said on Tuesday.

KRANJ - Serbian PM Ana Brnabic said on Thursday European Parliament President Antonio Tajani had stated unequivocally that Serbia would not have to recognise Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence to join the EU.
Haradinaj to remain in Slovenia, court decides
A Court in Kranj, Slovenia, has decided that Ramush Haradinaj must remain in that country as the court must "process his appeal."
This will be done "before proceeding to consider the extradition request of Serbia," it has been announced.

Burglar stuck in door calls police for help
LJUBLJANA -- A burglar "with a foot stuck in the door" of a house he was robbing in Radovljica, Slovenia, had to call the police and ask for their assistance.
The police realized that the case was a burglary, and filed a criminal complaint against the suspect.
