Newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron appointed his first government on Wednesday, naming veteran Socialist Jean-Yves Le Drian to foreign affairs and European lawmaker Sylvie Goulard as defence minister, reported AFP.

The Turkish Super League's defending champions, Beşiktaş, narrowly beat cellar-dweller Adanaspor late on April 24 to increase its cushion over its closest follower, Medipol Başakşehir, to seven points, just a week before the duo meets for a crucial clash.

The cards in the Turkish Super League could be reshuffled in the crucial upcoming 28th week of games, with leader Beşiktaş visiting Trabzonspor, the best-performing in the second half of the season, and second-placed Başakşehir taking on third-placed Galatasaray.

Defending champion Beşiktaş took another step to retaining its Turkish Super League title, moving five points clear at the top of the league with an April 2 win over Ankara's Gençlerbirliği at home.

The visiting side from Ankara started the game by pressing Beşiktaş's defenders and midfielders high up the pitch.
