Beşiktaş loses Europe League semifinal berth on penalties

Beşiktaş's dreams of a Europa League trophy ended in an epic penalty shoot-out in Istanbul on April 20, with France's Lyon pulling into the semifinals.

With the regular time ending 2-1 to Beşiktaş on the night and 3-3 on aggregate, the match went to penalties as the clock ticked well past midnight.

Beşiktaş seeks semifinal berth in matchup against Lyon

Beşiktaş hosts Olympic Lyon in Istanbul on April 20 in the return leg of a 2-1 loss in a Europa League quarterfinals clash.

The biggest advantage for Beşiktaş will be the support of its fans at the Vodafone Arena, where the Istanbul club has yet to lose in five European games, winning two and drawing three. 

Vodafone tests Turkey's domestic 4.5G base station

Vodafone tested Turkish 4.5G-compatible domestic base  station, dubbed ULAK, the company has said.

According to a statement by the company on April 14, Vodafone Turkey's deputy CEO Hasan Süel and Besiktaş Chairman Fikret Orman had a phone call ahead of the Europa League quarter final match between Beşiktaş and French club Olympique Lyon.  

Olympic Lyon warns fans over security threat in Europa game against Istanbul's Beşiktaş

French football club Olympic Lyon has warned its supporters about security over a Europa League round of 16 second leg game against Turkey's Beşiktaş in Istanbul on April 20, citing a terror attack near the stadium in December 2016, according to Radio Scoop. 

The club called on fans not to go to the game at Beşiktaş Vodafone Arena as organized groups. 

Beşiktaş downs Olympiacos, sets sights on Lyon in Europa League quarterfinals

Beşiktaş will take on Lyon of France in the Europa League quarterfinals after knocking out Greek team Olympiacos on March 16.

The draw on March 17 pitted the defending Turkish league champion against the French league runner-up, with the first leg scheduled to be played on April 13 in Lyon.
