Bulgaria's Mitov to Discuss Ways for Resolving Macedonian Crisis During Skopje Visit

Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov will discuss bilateral relations with Macedonia and ways for resolving the political crisis there during a working visit to the neighbouring country on 14 and 15 June, the foreign ministry in Sofia has announced.

Mitov will meet with Macedonia's President Gjorge Ivanov, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki.

Turks May Help Macedonia Form National Airline

Turkish Airlines' Senior Vice President for Marketing and Sales, Ziya Taşkent, has said the company is willing to consider a joint venture in Macedonia aimed at setting up a new national carrier.

MAT, Macedonian Airlines, the last government-backed national carrier, collapsed in 2009. Mat Airways, Macedonia's last privately-backed national airline, folded in 2011.

Macedonia Ruling Party Queried Over Real Estate Spree

Days before Sunday’s early general and presidential elections in Macedonia, the opposition Social Democratic Party, the SDSM, has presented documents from the land registry that it says show the ruling party recently purchased over 20 apartments, office spaces and building lots worth some €1.6 million.

Presidential Election Campaign Starts in Macedonia

The candidate of the main ruling VMRO DPMNE party, incumbent President Gjorge Ivanov, launches his campaign with a rally in the town of Ohrid, the party’s traditional election launch venue.

Ivanov, who is competing for a secound five-year term in office, is running under the election slogan “The State Above All”, positioning himself as a proven defender of the country's interests.
