Covid-19 in Bulgaria: 2,588 Newly Infected, 117 Fatalities

In the past 24 hours, 2,588 new cases of coronavirus infection have been documented in the country.

16,179 tests were made - 7,735 PCR and 8,444 antigen, of them 16% are positive.

As of March 2, there were 32,688 active cases in Bulgaria, according to data from the Single Information Portal.

Covid-19 in Bulgaria: 332 Newly Infected, Test Positivity Rate 13 Percent

In the past 24 hours, 332 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the country.

2,531 tests were made - 1,595 PCR and 936 antigen. Although the number of tests is small their positivity rate remains high - 13%.

As of March 1, there were 31,302 active cases in Bulgaria, according to data from the Single Information Portal.

Covid-19 in Bulgaria: 77 Newly Infected, 6,4 Percent of Tests Positive

In the past 24 hours, 77 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the country.

1194 tests were made - 765 PCR, 429 antigen. The percentage of positive samples remains stable - 6.4% for January 17.

121 people were vaccinated, thus their total number becomes 18,453.

Another Balkan Country Rocked by Quake – Magnitude 4 Tremor in Romania

A magnitude 4 earthquake on the Richter scale was registered at 1.50am on Wednesday in Olt region, southern Romania. The quake was at a depth of 10 km and was felt in Pleven, Bulgaria.

No casualties or destruction have been reported.

Since the beginning of the year, seven earthquakes with magnitude from 2 to 4 on the Richter scale have been recorded in Romanian.

 

2627 Cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria, 34 New Cases

34 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the past 24 hours, or 9 more as compared to the previous day, the National Information Website on Covid-19 announced. 

13 new cases of the novel coronavirus were registered in Sarnitsa municipality. 149 of all patients diagnosed with Covid-19 are admitted to hospitals, of whom 8 in intensive-care units.

Bulgarian Church Leader Insists Sacraments Cannot Transmit Coronavirus

Metropolitan Neofit of Sofia, the Patriarch of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, has drawn anger - and some ridicule - after his office said church services would continue in the country - despite concerns about transmission of the coronavirus - as the holy sacraments could not possibly transmit a disease.

More Balkan Countries Confirm First Coronavirus Cases

Albania, Bulgaria and Moldova registered their first cases of the coronavirus at the weekend as the illness continues to expand its reach in the Balkans and worldwide.

The Albanian Ministry of Health on Sunday said the two cases had arrived from Italy, were in a stable condition and have been placed in care.

Ship from Venice Arrived in Burgas

The crew of a ship that arrived from northern Italy at the oil port in Burgas have been put under a quarantine. There are about 25 Filipinos aboard the vessel as the ship left Venice on February 21st and reached the Rosenetz Burgas port on Thursday. The tanker has a yellow flag raised and will remain with it until its departure from Burgas, medical authorities said.

All Hospitalized People in Bulgaria Tested Negative for COVID-19

All 17 samples for the new COVID-19 coronavirus were negative. They belong to patients in hospitals in Burgas, Pleven, Stara Zagora, Shumen, Varna, Haskovo, Sofia and Ruse, the Ministry of Health reported.

The samples were examined at the National Reference Laboratory of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.
