Katarina Srebotnik ends tennis career
Portorož – Katarina Srebotnik, one of Slovenia’s best women tennis players, officially wrapped up her career at the seaside town of Portorož on Sunday having chalked up six Grand Slam doubles titles and four singles tournaments. In her career high she ranked 20th on the WTA rankings twice.

Air passenger traffic in Slovenia up by 46% last year
Ljubljana – Air passenger traffic in Slovenia recovered last year from the shock caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the three international airports in the country serving a total of 419,300 passengers or 46% more than in 2020. The lion’s share represented passengers served by the Ljubljana airport.
Bitch, a Derogatory Term for a Woman gets Vesna for best film
Portorož – This year’s Vesna Award for best feature film went to Prasica, Slabšalni Izraz za Žensko (Bitch, a Derogatory Term for a Woman), a debut by Tijana Zinajić, as the Festival of Slovenian Film wrapped up in the coastal town of Portorož on Sunday evening with the conferring of what are considered Slovenian Oscars.

Portorož – The 24th Festival of Slovenian Film will open in the coastal town of Portorož on Tuesday with the screening of Inventura, a film by Darko Sink. Until Sunday, a total of 54 films will compete for the festival’s awards.

Majority stake in newspaper Primorske Novice sold
Koper – Splošna Plovba, a Portorož-based shipping company in German ownership, has sold its 52.45% stake in media company Primorske Novice to three companies – Svet24, Salomon and Curator Nova.
Svet24 is a tabloid and a news portal owned by media company Media24, just like classifieds magazine and news portal Salomon.

Slovenia to host major mathematics event in June
Koper – The University of Primorska will host the 8th European Congress of Mathematics (8ECM), one of the major events in the field, in the coastal town of Portorož between 20 and 26 June. The congress will be held mostly online due to the epidemiological situation, said the university.

BELGRADE -- Saatchi&Saatchi Belgrade has won two awards for the campaign ''Chronicles of Threats" at the prestigious European Festival of Creativity Eurobest in Helsinki.
The campaign was done with the Serbian Commission Investigating Murders of Journalists and the OSCE.
